Stampin Up Robot Valentines

I bought this Valentine it from Stampin Up. They are having a great sale if you spend $50 you get a free stamp set!! My kids go to private Christian school and they are not supposed to have cartoon characters on the things they bring to school. I thought these were so cute and it is usually hard to find something cute without being a cartoon character.

On the backs the kids filled in the box with to & from. I filled them with sweethearts candies... They came two to a sheet you just have the kids fill it out then fold the box.

Add the heart for deco... (I did one class with candy necklaces because of a food allergy)

Arn't they cute!

So sweet!

So that is all for the kids Valentines. Took like hardly anytime to complete this today. They have off from school so it was the perfect time to get it done.

Wild Card #10 ~ Joy Card

I have to admit when I first looked at this card I thought it was goofy. I just didn't care for the flower/fan thingy. So I worked it into a real flower and was thrilled!!

wild card #10

I inked the flower petals and had to cut two of the stems off to keep them from showing. I just really like the colors and how this card came out.

Hopefully my cricut will be here soon so I can keep this schedule going ( and craft again ~ just isn't the same with out 'E' )

thanks for looking!

Wild Card #9

Time for another card with Wild Card. This is the 9th card in the book:

Wild Card #9

All I did was cut the card and the frame for the card and add two stickers. Simple easy card!

The next card will be posted up on Thursday!

Quick cards

There has been an ongoing challenge over on the cricut messageboards .... basically to spend 1 hour crafting each night then to post your pictures in the thread (Samantha & Kathy have been posting it! )

So here is what I did.... the first two are from today and second from yesterday.
All of them are made from a card making kit I got off of HSN or QVC (can't remember)
I've been trying to use them up since they are SOOO not my style. I really like how they came out though.

Snowman stamp is from one of the dollar stamps. Another dollar stamp card:

Another dollar stamp and a MS border punch in presents... great to use it outside of Christmas!!
I used stickles for the flame on the candle.

This is either a Close to my heart stamp or a D.O.T.S. stamp I got at a yardsale years ago. I colored him in using Stampin Up watercolor pencils and some various markers. Then cut him out.

Another take on him. I think I like this one more!! Ek Success border punch was used for this one.

I also wanted to add that I made two of each of the cards but varied the sentiments. It is easy to make duplicates on cards and then you have two for less work.

Christmas layout

I've been holding onto these pictures since 2006!! We had such a hard time with my oldest son. He just only can stand still for so long!! LOL!! I used Joys of the Season and Cuttin Up (I am pretty sure it was cutting up), Stampin up cardstock, DCWV Christmas Paper stack, stampin up twine & making memories ribbon

The photo collage is from Walgreens. They retail for $3.99 but sometimes have a special for FREE... I got mine for free!! You can't really tell but my kids were so funny during the Christmas card photo shoot. The oldest goes from super happy/fun to crying LOL!! I just knew I wanted a layout that showed how many pics we had to take before the perfect one.

quick card

Here is a quick card I made. I used a stamp I won in a blog candy, the sentiment is one of Stampin Up's stamps (the new unmounted ones, which btw work wonderfully!!)

I colored the stamp in using Stampin up's watercolor pencils. Love them too!! Two Primas, Martha's loopy punch on the corners and my good ol' cuttlebug for the back ground.
Looks like I will be doing some different styles without the E for awhile... wonder what I can come up with!

My E died.

I am so sad today. I Cricut Expression is totally frozen. I called Provo Craft and spoke to two extremely nice ladies (first one to reset) and second to confirm mine wasn't gonna make it! So they are sending a new one and I will have to ship the original one back. It could take 2 -3 weeks though. I don't know what I am going to do without the cricut. It makes my crafting so much easier!

***Edited to answer questions***
I've only had my E for 10 months. I have a few of the wild cards done in advance so hopefully we won't have to postpone anything! ;)

I would love to buy a smaller machine for 'just in case' but my hubby would prob kill me!! LOL!

Thanks for the kind words ~ I am really sad!!

Wild Card # 8 ~ The Oval

Here is the second card for this week. It is the oval card (#8 in the booklet)
For my card I used white cardstock and paper from Target's dollar section. The circle is a sticker with stickles around it and I used stampin Up dimensionals to 'pop' it. Tulle is tied behind the 'kiss me' for some added dimension.
Wild Card #8

Thanks for looking! Tune in next week for two more cards!

GiGi ~ our newest family member

This is our newest member GiGi. I've never had a Guinea Pig before but we needed something that was easy to care for and good for little kids ~ so here she is! She is rather sweet and cuddly already and I hope that we have a good time with her.

Check out this blog!

My cousin Erica is one of the most amazing scrapbookers I know!! She is also very crafty, too!! I've been begging her to start a blog so we can see each others work since she lives in DE & I live in NJ. So she has set one up

I hope you will check it out and become a follower!! It is new but trust me when I say she is amazing!!

Wild Card #7 - Booklet

Ok so this one is tricky!! I cut the envelope at 'fit to page' but the card doesn't cut at the same size. It is much smaller. So for #7 you have to cut the card first!!

Here is my card first:

Wild Card #7

The paper I used really was torn up with the cutting and scoring so I sanded everything and went with it!! LOL!! I also messed up on my stamping (bottom of the card) so I cut it off and used a border punch. Now I know I could have redone the card with all the problems I had but I am just not that kind of girl. I like to make lemonade outta lemons!! LOL!! So I worked with it and think it came out somewhat ok!!

Hope you enjoyed this installment!! See ya Thursday with another Wild Card!!

Decorated Mailboxes from Target Dollar Section! #Teachergift

These adorable mailboxes are popping up everywhere.  I just had to make a set of my own! They are so cute and only $1 each at Target in the dollar section! I plan on using them as teacher's Valentine's gifts... gonna fill them with some yummy chocolate!!

Close ups

To make them I did measure - I know  I should- but I'm more of a wing-it crafter.  I just wrapped the paper around the mailbox and made a pencil line then cut.  Worked well because the cute ribbon helps cover the ends.  I used my Scotch ATG tape glider (HIGHLY recommend this product!) to stick the paper and ribbon on.   I put a sticker on the flag top and a flower on the bottom of the flag  using glue dots.  The rhinestone was added with glue dots too.  The paper, stickers and ribbon are from the target dollar section.  Flowers are primas and rhinestones I got at the craft store.
Hope you enjoy!!

Wild Card #6 ~ The Invite

The second card this week is the invite. It has a cool envelope that folds on itself. The envelope reminded me of the explosion cards that are so popular right now ~ so I thought ... why not make it a card. (Especially since I needed two cards for my two nieces birthdays!)

So here is the envelope. It doesn't stay shut that well.... so you will have to use adhesive to shut it when giving out.
#6 -invite card

The inside:
#6 invite card

Here is the card. Once again the way it is set up I think it looks like a complete card. So I did that and won't use an envelope for it:

Wild Card #5 ~ The trifold

Ok this card was tricky for me. I couldn't get it to stay shut. My pictures are awful because of it. The bottom right corner has the same punch as the top ... it is what it is for me!! LOL!!

wild card # 5

I used stickers for the hi and a crocheted flowers.

Thanks for looking!!

Epson ~ yeah the printer company

I don't know if you remember but I bought an epson printer way back in September for under $21. Cheap right? Get this ink is only $12.99 and you can buy each color as needed. Sounds great right? WRONG!! That thing eats ink even worse than my HP printer did!!

So you have to be a magician to find a number on the internet to call... I called whatever random number for sales was on their website... only to be given the coveted correct number.

Guess what they are doing? Sending me a brand new printer!! Yay!!! I will let you know if it works any better. (I don't really have that much hope it will.... I think that I got what I paid for ... $21 is cheap and it is a cheapo printer )

LOL!

Learning to stitch on paper ~ a card!

So I've had this singer sewing machine since 1999. My Mother-in-law got a new one and gave me her old one. I was supposed to learn but I literally became pregnant 1 month after I married my hubby. (About 3 weeks after recieving the sewing machine lol!!)

I have always been intrested in crafting. I learned to do a little tole painting, I can cross stitch, and I've been known to attempt crocheting (did one hot pad!) so sewing was certainly on my list!!

I hooked the sewing machine up today... figured out how to change the thread, roll the bobbin (still have questions about that!!) and thread the needle... oh and change the needle. And change the needle. And change the needle. Yes 3 times! They kept breaking. First the needle hit the foot thingy and broke (twice) and then one time I think the thread got wound too tight and broke it. I am on my last needle and have to actually buy more. I also need to figure out what kind of bobbin my machine uses.

Any ways... here is the card I made. I sewed scrap strips on. There are a lot lot lot of sewing mistakes. The thread is all over the place!! But I LOVE it!! I had the embellishments from a blog candy I had won over the summer and they went perfect with my scraps! I didn't change a thing (ink, trim paper to fit) I just left it all natural and I think it turned out great. I even hand did the 'just bee-cause' ~ simply because I wanted it to say bee and I didn't feel like individually stamping each letter.

Ok so this is long but I am hoping someone who reads this blog can help me with my sewing. So here are a few questions:
1. Why is my needle not lined up with the foot properly and breaking? Do I need to take my sewing machine somewhere for an alignment?
2. Any place that is 'better' to buy sewing machine supplies? Micheal's had one generic brand of bobbins & needles. The needles worked and the bobbin didn't.
3. What is a bobbin and why do I need it? I am really confused by that one!! LOL!
If you have any answers I would appreciate it!!
Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this long, long, long post.
Remember there will be two Wild Cards coming this week. I've got them done. :D So look for them!!!

Saturday, January 9, 2010

So I keep buying these Christmas clearance punches...

So I keep buying things I don't know if I will use....
For example these border punches. I decided to make this card with the trees. I cut 5 strips of green paper, punched the trees. On the brown card I took yellow, orange and reddish-orange ink and did a sunset in the top part of the card. All the trees are inked with white ink (I have a versamark ink pad in cloud white) and cocoa petal inks. Sentiment is stamped in Stampin Up Chocolate Chip classic ink. Martha Steward bird punch and ribbon from Michaels.
I did two pictures so you can really see the inking and layering. I actually really like how this came out and will probably do one in blue/white as well.

I've got a huge problem!!

I keep spending money!!! I bought 5 of these and my hubby bought me the rest!! I don't know what I am going to do with them but they were so cheap I couldn't help myself!!! And I bought all this as well.... I think I purchased more but I can't remember what is new and I put some away already!!

So clearly I have an addiction and I have to stop! Let's see if I can make it one week without going to the craft stores? Especially since I ordered from scrapbook.com & stampin Up this week and all should be here by Wed.

Wild Card # 4 ~ the stitched card

Here is the second card for this week. It is the stitched card (4th in the Wild Card Cartridge handbook)
My card:
scrappinNJ,scrappinNJ

I did the 'frame' part with square cut in center. I used the most beautiful foil fall paper from Making memories. What I did was cut the frame part then cut off the top portion so that I could fit the bottom part in my cuttlebug cutting folder (the owl) embossed it & added the gold & gems. Then at the top there was a seam so I added the ribbon to hide it and charm/gem. I really love how this card turned out.

Thanks for looking!! I love comments be sure to leave one!!

Tinkerbell

Dh got me Tinkerbell & Friends for Christmas because he knows I love her!! I have no idea what I will use this cart for but I am guessing to decorate my scrap area? LOL!
I used the fit to page feature and cut her out on a 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Not sure how big she cut out because I am on the laptop upstairs and she is downstairs!! LOL! It was hard to get the eyes so I bagged the blue part and used stickles.... they are glittery and look pretty good. I stickeled the wings as well. I am going to have to buy some special paper for her though because I want white sparkly wings. Not blue!! LOL!!

Enjoy.

A day of fun layout

Basically it was the end of summer and I wanted to do something fun with the kids.... I think it was supposed to rain so we ended up staying local. We went bowling & mini-golfing ((haven't made that layout it is next and I have BIG plans for it!!)) and out to eat. The kids had a blast doing all those fun things in one day. Ok I free-handed the bowling pin because I couldn't find any on any of the cricut cartridges I had... The bowling ball was cut using my Creative Memories circle cutters.
Making Memories stickers & game board pieces for the title.

This was a Studio G stamp I've had for ever! Sorry the pic is blurry but you get the idea!
Thanks for looking!!

Wild Card #3 ~ The Square

Here is my take on the square card. I am not a fan of squares but I had this stamp I wanted to use. The Pineapple stamp is colored in with Stampin Up inks in Garden Green & Pumpkin Pie. I love the tropical feel to this card!!

Wild Card #2 ~ The Argyle Card

The second card in the book is the Argyle card. I found this a little tricky at first because of the layering and picking out colors. But once I got the scheme of it ~ I just LOVE it!! I used blue rhinstones for the flower centers to add a little more color.

Thanks for looking!

New Year # 7 ~ another Vintage Finds layout

I really love this layout too!! I used more of that Making Memories Vintage Find kit and more K & Company paper. I also love the pics... my oldest son is so funny!! I used Stazon ink in Stone grey on everything (all papers & metals) - I don't have the stamp pad but I have a re-inker so I just squirted it on a tissue and used that. That stuff actually smells good but the bottle says use in a well vented area (my basement is sooo not!!) so I don't know if that was good or not!! LOL!
I just love how the ink looks on these .... that MM vintage kit had the COOLEST stuff!!

Tag, stamps and little clock thing!! Thanks for reading/looking. I love your comments and read each & everyone!!! Thanks!!

New Years #6 ~ Using Making Memories Vintage Finds!

I love this page! I mean I really really really love this page!! I used paper from K & Company and a kit from Making Memories Vintage Finds. ((Which I got super cheap for like under $2 at Micheal's on Clearance!! Wish I would have found more!)) Used Tim Holtz distress Ink pads in old paper & old photo to ink all the papers, embellishments, ribbons and photo mats.

I really can't say enough about this layout!! My favorite to date ((Although I know another one is coming that is kinda the 2nd page to this and I love it equally!! LOL!))
