Have you seen The Middle?  I have to say it is one funny show!  I think most parents of slightly older kids can totally relate to the parents in this show.  The kids are quirky and really add character to the show!  I love the younger kid Brick with all his social issues because we have a bit of that at home too.  Oh and don't get me started on their financial situation! This show is the MODERN ROSANNE!

Why The Walmart Employee Failed today...

I honestly could list at least 50 reasons why I dislike Walmart but today's trip takes first prize.  We are in line and the person ahead of me has WIC.  If your not familiar it is a program that helps WOMEN INFANTS CHILDREN by providing food to the family.  I have personally been on WIC when my husband was laid off and it was a HUGE help to our family.  It provides things like bread, milk and eggs each month.

The people in line in front of me were new to WIC.  The cashier had rung them up then asked for their folder and checks.  That is the first NO-NO.  She should have checked the checks and folder first thing.  The couple had forgot their folder and had already signed their checks.  This basically voids them because the cashier is supposed to see you sign.  Well, things happen.  Yes there are fraudulent people and the cashier had every right to turn them away.  However if she had done her job she wouldn't have had to go further in the transaction.  So she gets very nasty and starts huffing and puffing over this whole thing.  She stalks off and gets another person (presumably a manager) who then also gets completely nasty to the people.  I was so upset.  They were treating these people like less than because of the assistance!  No kind words, no "I'm sorry but we can't do this transaction"  but plenty of eye-rolls in my direction from the cashier.

That lady missed a great opportunity to help a couple of parents out.  They probably didn't understand the whole WIC thing and just needed so kind guidance.

Then the cashier proceeded to ring them up for their non-WIC purchase.  Their eggs had no skew on them.  She looked at them and said," This has no barcode YOU will have to go get another."

I held my breath!  I had all my kids so I didn't want to make a scene but now I regret that.  So instead I rant on my blog!!

Thankfully another manager came over to help them.

I just don't understand people and their meanness.  Especially cashiers!  Your job is customer service!  Put a smile on your face and be sweet.

Ok sorry to waste your time reading this but it upset me!

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.   Ephesians 4:32 KJV

Are We Really Trusting In God For All Things?

I'd like to think of myself as a firm believer in God.  I'd like to think that I put my trust in him and  that I follow:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6.

However as soon as something difficult comes along in my life I end up putting a lot of time and effort into worrying.  These past few years were some of our most difficult in our household.  My husband was laid off more months  than he worked.  Some days I thought we would never make it through the financial stress!

Then I look back and realize it was also some of the best times for our family!  We grew closer (since we were all home!).  We started our homeschooling adventure - which is one of my favorite things because I get to see my kids now unlike before when I gave them away more half the day.  We had our littlest Jace join our family and he has been an enjoyment for all of us. We found a church where we are happy and growing!

I still don't understand the hardships we face and I'm pretty sure more will come through the years but I'm determined not to give in to a worrying spirit.  I'm purposing to LEAN NOT TO MY OWN UNDERSTANDING and let God direct our paths.  Looking back he has provided all our needs and given us much more than just our needs.

I encourage you to do the same!
