I don't know if you are as excited about the Olympics as I am. I love it. Finally a sport where I can cheer the home team on with everyone I know! haha! The last Olympics was of course London 2012 and in the Summer. The kids and I were really into it... and it fit into our summer learning perfectly.
Now that we are homeschoolers I want to keep a little better track!
So here are some facts about the Olympics:
- The first Olympics were held in Greece in 776 B.B and done in the NUDE!
- Only men originally competed
- Sochi will be the first Russian City to host the Winter Olympics
- USA hosted the winter Olympics four times
- Alpine Skiing
- Figure Skating
- Freestyle Skiing
- Ice Hockey
- Nordic Combined
- Short Track
- Ski Jumping
- Speed Skating
Opening ceremonies will be on February 7th. You can find a full schedule here: www,sochi2014.com.
I found some adorable printables from Little Learning Lovies perfect for the Olympics! I plan on doing the dot art and matching with my three year old and having the big kids use the journal pages to keep track of the Olympics!
I've purchased quite a few things from Little Learning Lovies and have been very please with all! Their prices are very reasonable and you can even customize some items. What I truly love is the creator Sandra is open to suggestions! So be sure to connect with her on FB or on her site if you are looking for a certain type of product and she might be able to come up with it for you!
I'd love to hear how you are celebrating the Olympics with your family so please leave me a comment below telling me all about it!
