R is for Remembering

I have a hard time remembering the past.  Pictures help but I often wonder if I remember the picture or the moment.  My mother died when I was 17.  She was sick with cancer from when I was little except for a brief 4ish years of remission in between.  I have some memories... but not as many as I would have liked.

I remember riding in her little datsun car on a road nearby and it had hills and I would scream WEEEEE!

I remember going to the lake almost every summer day and sharing a cheeseburger and her taking time in the water playing with me.

I remember when I was 5th grade I had singing lessons and we would go to McDonald's and have a Big Mac each week.

I remember her sitting on the couch every morning drinking hot tea.

I remember how much she loved my Dad and how he was definitely first in her life.

I remember her keeping our home so clean and having dinner on the table every night.

I remember when I was old enough to share clothes.


I hope my kids will have beautiful memories of our time together....
