How To Make Buttercream Icing!

I've been making my own icing since I became a newlywed.  My Mother-in-Law taught be way back when.  I should state that she makes awesome icing!  I've modified to suit our families taste but my hubs still prefers Mom's homemade cakes!

Buttercream Icing:

1 stick of butter and 1 tablespoon of butter (softened)
8 tablespoons of regular crisco
1 box of powdered sugar (10x sugar)
1-2 tablespoons of vanilla (use one then add second if needed)
splash of water

add butter and crisco to a mixer bowl and mix well, letting the mixture whip up smoothly and looking light/fluffy.   Slowly add powdered sugar mixing well.  Add vanilla.  Use a splash of water as needed to get the right consistency.

I like my icing a little wetter so I use more water, hubs likes it very dry and stiff so he uses less water.  Just add a splash, mix, splash mix until it comes out how you like your icing to look.
