New Book from Kay Wills Wyma: I'm Hapy for You (Sort of...Not Really) #HydrateForTheHolidays #flyby

Kay Wills Wyma tackled youth entitlement in her book Cleaning House. Now she takes on contentment in I'm Happy for You {Sort Of... Not Really} - Finding Contentment in a Culture of Comparison. Ladies, this one is for us not the kids. I think it is safe to say that all of us have felt less than in certain situations. Maybe it is your friend's facebook page - you know the friend that post all the amazing things her family does. Maybe it is your neighbor's new car. That green monster creeps in and you think:  "Why not me" or "I'll never be able to do all that". Comparison steals our joy.

About I’m Happy For You (Sort Of…Not Really)
Our cultural obsession with comparison is undercutting relationships and sapping contentment. With disarming candor and humor, Kay Wills Wyma explores how to trade comparison for compassion and rediscover what life is all about.
It’s easy to get caught in the comparison games we play with our appearances, our kids, and our homes. Kay reminds exhausted families about tried and true remedies from the pressures of competitive living.
In her warm, relatable style, Kay confronts the comparison epidemic raging in our homes, our neighborhoods, and our social-media feeds, offering remedies along the way.
With candor and humor, I’m Happy For You (Sort Of…Not Really) explores the troubling effects of living in an excessively competitive culture—and reveals simple yet effective ways to escape the comparison trap.

My Thoughts:

Wyma really challenges us to stop comparing and just start living. The chapter that I really connected with was called Beyond The Glimpse.  Where we see a situation and mentally allow ourselves to wonder about it.  Why wasn't I included, why can't we do things like that as a family.  How often do we let glimpses into other's lives make us less than thrilled with ours.

I really have enjoyed this book so far. I love Kay Wills Wyma's writing style. She hits you with the truth in a loving way that really does challenge us to do more and think better.  Her book Cleaning House was life changing to me and this one has that same potential!
