Spring is here or at least trying to poke it's head through all this cold weather in the Northeast. (Forecasting snow this weekend EEk!) As the weather does change nature comes alive. In our house we love seeing all the animals come back to the area - especially the birds.
Baby Wren and the Great Gift by Sally Lloyd-Jones is a book about a sweet baby wren looking for her purpose in life. She is amazed and perhaps a tiny bit envious of the other creatures around her. Wanting to soar like an eagle or dive like a kingfisher. What she doesn't realize at first is her purpose. Until she opens her voice and sings a sweet song. All the animals realize the wonderfulness baby wren has in just being herself.
The book has many themes - it is perfect for bird lovers. I also love the element of being who God wants you to be and doing His will. While it doesn't talk directly about God you can easily jump to that conclusion. Baby Wren is special and has a special gift to share, a special purpose. As we all do!
