How I Lost 37 Pounds... Playing Pokémon Go

Ok this game has only been out a week and I haven't actually lost any weight playing it. I have been spending the past few days walking around with my teen sons collecting Pokémon. I can see this game as a HUGE potential for people getting up and getting active. I think I've logged about 2 miles walking in two days which was way more than I usually do!

Last night we witnessed at least 10 people walking around our small town playing this game. Social interaction and physical action is a big part. We also played as a family. The kids were talking and wanting to go do this as a fun family game. For you geocaching families - this is the next big thing!

So what is Pokémon Go?

It is a phone app that you use to collect and eventually battle Pokémon with

What Ages?

I would consider this an all ages game. My teens and my little all enjoyed playing.

Highlights

We were up walking around town all day. We also drove to many memorial landmarks we didn't know existed. (The history buff in me found this wonderful.)

Easy to play and even though it is on the phone this is a social game without the bogging down of being involved with social media. What do I mean? I mean you will actually physically talk to other people around town looking for these creatures.

It is the hottest game right now, so getting in on it early means you will be one of the first to level up and achieve a higher status.

How To Play

Honestly I'm thinking of having my kids do a tutorial. They've played the games in the past and understand this all much better than me. For  me I just walk around collecting new Pokémon but there is so much more. You can hatch eggs and train and battle at the gym. My oldest played for a little bit the first night and had already leveled his characters up fast because he knew how to transfer, evolve and power-up. Me not so much.

So Moms & Dads get this app and go play with your children. This is an opportunity to get in there world and spend time together. Walking around town there is down time on the game and you can use this time to talk.
