Fetching Sweetness Book Review

Fetching Sweetness

by Dana Mentink

Some books just catch you off guard. That is the case with Fetching Sweetness by Dana Mentink. See I'm not really a dog person so I wasn't sure what to think about this book as I assumed it would be all doggy love all the time. However this book has a great story about redemption and finding God's will for your life.

The story brings us to two main characters Rhett Hastings - mega rich businessman- and Stephanie Pink  - girl who is trying desperately to close a big publishing deal. Each of our characters has a past filled with hurts and things they wish they could change. Through a random set of events they find themselves together and on a mission. Of course they both have their 'way' of doing things and expect certain outcomes but God has a different plan.

This book reminds me of a wonderful sermon I heard a few years ago. The preacher told us that we have to tear up the 'script' we have for our lives and let God write it. That is exactly what they characters realize and they end up with sweet lives completely different than they wanted, planned or expected.

This book has a bit of comedy around the dog sweetness and I really enjoyed his antics. I actually think Stephanie Pink would make a great series character because she was so much fun. Maybe a series around her new career? (Maybe author Dana Mentink will consider this!)

 Additional Information:

A recipe for love and loss, merriment and mayhem, fun and faith in the backwoods of the Pacific Northwest can only be found in Fetching Sweetness by Dana Mentink. It should have been so simple for Stephanie Pink: Retrieve a reclusive author's valuable new manuscript and be promoted to a full-fledged literary agent. But when the author's canine companion, Sweetness, makes a break for it and Stephanie has to track Sweetness down, she meets Rhett Hastings. They’re in for a surprising string of adventures and misadventures.
