The Mighty Odds
by Amy Ignatow
Every kid's dream is super powers and that is just what The Mighty Odds is all about. Imagine you have a accident and when you wake up you suddenly have special abilities? That is exactly what happens in this book but with a great twist. The powers aren't thinks like super speed or amazing strength. Instead the kids get things like strength only in their thumbs or teleporting but only a few inches.
What happens is a hilarious book as the kids try to find out what happen to them and what these powers mean. They also develop friendships outside of their social cliques. This is a great book for middleschoolers. It is fun and engaging.
When a sweet nerd, an artsy cartoonist, a social outcast, and the most popular girl in school are involved in a mysterious bus accident, this seemingly random group of kids starts to notice some very strange abilities they did not have before. Artsy Martina can change her eye color. Nerdy Nick can teleport . . . four inches to the left. Outcast Farshad develops super strength, but only in his thumbs. And Cookie, the It Girl of school’s most popular clique, has suddenly developed the ability to read minds . . . when those minds are thinking about directions. They are oddly mighty—especially together.
