To Sauce or Not To Sauce - featuring Bertolli Organic Sauce + Giveaway! #spons

In my Italian home growing up we called any type of sauce with meat gravy and if it was meat-less it was sauce. This debate has circled the internet for some time but one thing I never see a discussion on is how to dress the spaghetti! Do you have a special way to 'dress' your pasta?

See in our house I prefer to keep the sauce on stove warm and the spaghetti stays sauce-less. Then you can add as much sauce or as little as you like to your personal taste. What I do is cook our pasta al dente, I personally prefer thin style pasta. Then after draining it I add butter to the top and let it melt then mix it in. This way the pasta doesn't stick or clump together. It also adds so much flavor. Another added plus is that it will reheat wonderfully too. (Lately I've not had leftovers - but such is life with 4 growing boys!) Then each person adds their sauce and some parmesan cheese to the top!

Now normally I like to make my own sauce or gravy but some days there is just not enough time in the day to do this. Between schooling the kids or making sure I have fresh garlic and onions on hand it just doesn't always work out. For days like that I am so thankful for a good jar of sauce that I can keep on hand. This past week we've been testing out Bertolli's new Organic line. I'm so happy to find a good organic brand because I prefer to buy organic whenever it is possible. My 6 year old doesn't eat many foods because of sensory issues but he loves spaghetti. I feel good about having some cooked in the fridge and being able to heat a bit of Bertolli to put on top.

There are currently 4 varieties:

  • Five Cheese
  • Fire Roasted Garlic Marinara
  • Olive Oil, Basil and Garlic
  • Traditional Tomato and Basil
