Be a Blessing #abcblogging

It is interesting how these topics work.  I pray about it and I ask family and friends.  Then I write about whatever 'feels' right in the end.  This one feels a lot like it builds on last weeks word which was available.

Be a Blessing.  This is something I strive to do!  I want to be helpful, encouraging, available.

What ways can you easily be a blessing?

  • Make a meal
  • Send an encouraging text
  • watch a friend's kid
  • pass on your kid's outgrown clothing or toys
  • smile at a stranger
  • write a note to a sick relative or friend
  • print a nice picture you took and give it to the person featured
  • slip a college kid some cash
  • drop off flowers to a widow
  • pay for someones coffee in the drive thru
  • pray faithfully for a friends need

What does the Bible say on this subject?

In Matthew 5:16:

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

So according to this verse that in well doing you are showing God to your friends and family.  How awesome is that?

I also think of 1 Corinthians 13 - this whole chapter is one I have memorized and it is about love... (it is often translated out of KJV to say Love... but can mean good will, love, benevolence...)

verse 13:

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

So as you can see according to 1 Corinthians 13:13 charity (love) is something we should be doing in our life.

I hope I've given you some simple ideas to be a blessing with family, friends, your church and community.

  1. 1 Corinthians 13 is one of my favorite scriptures, I remember memorizing it as a child. This is a great post, thanks for reminding us all to be a blessing! Visiting from #ABCblogging

  2. A terrific contrast to my B is for Bitterness. My littler guy had a class at co-op themed Bee a Blessing. :)

I'd love to hear about your study about Ahithophel. (From the comment you left on Insane.)
