O is for Optimism #abcblogging

This post will probably be a little different.  You see we laid my sweet cousin Mark to rest on Monday.  After battling cancer for 8 1/2 years he went home to Jesus.  I can not explain the loss of a cousin.  Cousins are first friends, they are the people you go to family events to see.  Mark was only a month older than me and I had the privilege to go to junior high with him.  We also graduated from the same high school together and worked for many years at a family business.  My senior year I lived at his house and being the same age/school we did a lot together.  He was more like a brother.

His funeral was one of the most profound funerals I have ever went to.  The people wrapped the building and never stopped coming in.  He had touched so many lives.  From grade school friends to family from across the world - they came.  He would have loved it!  Every one had a story of the practical joker he was - and how he has such a great attitude about everything.  Optimism.  Always a smile and a sweet spirit.

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer - Romans 12:12

reMarkable Strides is the charity started when my cousin first was diagnosed.  Family and friends continue to raise support for The National Brain Tumor Society.  If you feel led to leave a donation I'm sure the team would appreciate it.

Also please pray for Mark's parents, brother & family and grandmother - I know they would appreciate it.
