The Old Schoolhouse - Hey Mama! Printed Planner #review

One of my favorite times of year as a homeschooling Mama is planning out the next year. Getting to decide what we will learn and researching curriculum is so much fun. Having the blank canvas open for learning... it is all wonderful. For me I like to write things down. Hard copy, on paper. I'm going to be sharing my next year's planner from The Old Schoolhouse with you today.

What I received:

  • Monthly goal sheets
  • Semester goal sheets
  • Yearly Goal sheets

The first and main thing I use in a physical planner is the calendar. I like to keep track of all my bills on those pages. Then weekly when I sit down to pay bills I like to check things off as I pay them then highlight them on my list as they show up removed from my bank account. This keeps me on track and helps me to not miss deadlines.

Hey Mama! has the perfect set up with a section for notes on the side - this is where I like to record the bills/dates due and then a typical calendar.  (Don't mind my crazy notes - which will only make sense to me)

I also like to have pages for planning for homeschooling and Hey Mama! includes plenty of those.

In NJ we are not required to follow any strict rules but I keep a running list of the curriculum we use for our personal records. This sheet can be used that way - or to record the products your thinking of ordering. It is easily adjustable to personal choice/needs.

We don't have to keep attendance in NJ but I know many states do. I was excited that this sheet was included because I would like to keep track for my personal records and I want to celebrate 100 days next year with my kindergartner.

We do like to keep track of the books we've read during the year so this sheet is especially helpful.

My Thoughts:

This planner has everything I was looking for. The only thing I can think that would have made it better was a report card but honestly I purchase those separately because I like them to all look alike. I was very impressed with the color choices - black, white, cream and sepia tones are very appealing. Many times planners go to hot pink or extremely girly looks and while that is nice - I love the look of this one so much more. It is classy and the farm pictures on the front are adorable.

  1. Such a great idea to use the monthly pages as bill reminders! I may have to steal that idea from you!
