11th Grade Curriculum Choices for 2016-2017

When we started this journey of homeschooling our now 11th grader was only going into 7th! Those 5 years have flown by! I can't believe he is so close to the finish line. Picking high school courses is a bit challenging when your student isn't sure where they are headed after graduation. Since we don't have a clear path we are making him do all college prep courses so that when the time comes (which is actually pretty soon!!!) he can go to a school of his choice if that is what he desires.

What We've Chosen:

Science - Guest Hollow High School Chemistry -

We are on to week 4 of this curriculum and it is still a huge hit. Everyday my son comes and shares with me things he has read. He has learned so much about the world around him that he just didn't realize. I am loving this as well!

History

English

Bible

Notgrass American History -

Two weeks in and this is a big hit. Both boys love that everything is all included. While it is still a bunch of work it feels like less to them so that is part of the attraction. It is also is an interesting subjects and they often tell me something they've read!

Gym / Health -

Abeka High School Health   we had this on the shelf so we are going to dive into it this year. On top of that this particular child takes care of our chickens which is quite the workout tending to them each day. He also does weekly yard work. (Before you think this is mean and too much - he loves it and has chosen to do it all without even being asked ;) ) Lastly, he has been challenging himself with a fitness routine he designed which includes weights, running and sit ups.

 GREEK-

We are slowly plowing through our Memoria Press, and going to be adding in the Masterbooks It's Not Greek To Me along with some workbooks and online apps I've found. Duolingo has been an amazing asset I've recently found that I think will be a great help in this subject.

Math

Math-u-See - our plans are to do Geometry and Algebra 2  this year by doubling up and tripling up with lessons. With this curriculum that is an easy goal. You watch a video and do 5 worksheets a week (goal being mastery) so in our case we are doing 2 lessons a week.
