NJ Field Trip: Indian Acres - Pumpkin Picking

Last week we went on our fall pumpkin picking trip with two other homeschooling families. This was our first time going to Indian Acres and I have to tell you this location was pretty awesome.  The cost for the hay ride was only $4 per person and for the pumpkins you paid by the size and they littlest started at $1.50. This was extremely reasonable.

On the property they had several neat looking playground type equipment for the kids to play on. There was a 'corn kernal' sand box, a corn maze and some other kind of maze. This was all free to do. There were two alpaca, a goat and a chicken in the animal feeding area. You could buy food in the gift shop. Speaking of gift shops - they had a nice sized shop and a little food stand with snacks and drinks. There was a bouncy thing but that wasn't up when we were there and there is an additional charge for that activity.

I was very impressed with the friendly staff and the overall value for the nominal cost. For about $6.50 you could ride the wagon, pick a pumpkin and play outside all day. There were porta-a-potties and picnic tables, too. The only negative was the bees but they are very rampant this time of year as just before the weather changes. I liked this place so much we are already planning a return trip next fall.
