Is Getting Your Little One To Sleep A Challenge? Time For Bed, Sleepyhead, Will Change That! #bookreview

Bedtime routines usually include story time because cuddling with a book is a great way to wind down. What if your book was written with the goal of sleeping in mind. Just suppose the words, story and how you read it all help you towards the goal of a sweet and problem-free snooze for your little one? That is exactly what Time for Bed, Sleepyhead: The Falling Asleep Book by Daniel G. Amen, M.D. is all about.

About:

Written by New York Times bestselling author and renowned psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, this cozy bedtime book uses visualization techniques in the storytelling to encourage a child to stretch and even exhaust their imaginations to help them drift off into peaceful sleep.

 My Thoughts:

Our six year old has gotten used to settling down for the most part so we didn't use this story how it was intended. That said I can totally see how this book would help with bedtime. The story is set with a little bear cub getting ready for bed. Momma tells him a bedtime story that includes all his furry friends. She goes into great detail along the way and the story is a trip to the beach. As the story progress it shares that the characters are sleepy - they are just so tired. This is a relaxation tactic on the pages that helps induce the idea and feeling of sleepiness to the listener. It is brilliant! Even if it didn't include all that the story itself is sweet and enjoyable. My little guy loved the bright illustrations by Gail Yerrill and listening to the tale.
