Ordinary People Change the World series: I AM JIM HENSON #bookreview

As a family we have been big fans of Henson's creations every Christmas we watch Emmet Otter's Jug-band Christmas and my husband even has collectible Dark Crystal figures. I knew my boys would be interested in Ordinary People Change the World new book - I am Jim Henson by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos.

In this book we learn all about Jim from his childhood to his first careers in puppeteering. He tells how his Mom and Grandparents encouraged him to have fun and be creative. Movies influenced his story telling and he would often act those scenes out with friends. The main thing is that he wanted his creations to be good and share with us that there is good in all of us. His puppets were all different but all shared that quality.

Perhaps his most famous contribution was Sesame Street which helped children for many years watch educational television that was as much fun as it was learning. Another famous group of characters is the Muppets which are still also a hit today.

This is a fantastic book to learn all about Jim Henson and his contributions - Children everywhere enjoy his creations. One of the things we did after reading this book is watch an episode of Sesame Street with Kermit the Frog. IT was neat seeing the show after reading this book.

You can get your copy of I am Jim Henson at your local book retailer or online at stores like Amazon.  I've also shared a few of the previous books from this series you can see them here.
