We Are The Dinosaurs
by Laurie Berkner
Illustrated by Ben Clanton
You probably know by now that I love Laurie Berkner's music. I've mentioned many times that we've been fans since my oldest - who is almost 17 - was little. Her songs have been a staple in our home, both my husband and myself have sang those songs acapella around our home whenever the song fits the situation. ( An example is if my kid was putting on snowboots we inevitably sang BOOTS!)
I was so excited to see that Laurie had written a children's book. Her career has given her a knowledge of little children that pours out in her songs. She understands them, writes for them and entertains them. Picking We Are The Dinosaurs to turn into a book was the most perfect song choice. I think each of my children has had a time where they have fallen in love with dinosaurs and we are currently in that phase with our six year old. He has loved listening to the song and the way it is brought to life in this book is perfect.
The story shares the song's lyrics which featuring an almost mini-story with child dinosaurs who go on an adventure. They stomp, eat, sleep and have a blast. I loved how this was written and how much fun this book is.
