I love a good story that shares how items are made. Band-Aids are something in this modern age we take advantage of. In fact my toddler will ask for one for any little hurt even the invisible ones. They now come in classic flesh tone but even in neon, waterproof and a variety of characters. They are a staple in every medicine cabinet and first aid kit, but how did they come to be so popular? Wittenstein has always been involved with writing, from contributing to
his high school and college newspapers, to writing and performing
poetry on stage in San Francisco, songwriting, sports writing, and now
picture books.
He has
worked at CBS Records, CBS News, and was a web editor and writer for
Major League Baseball. He is now an elementary-school substitute teacher
and children's author.
Barry
particularly likes nonfiction, and profiling mostly unknown people and
events whose stories have never been told in children’s literature. He

This book is delightful. The story is cute and educational. While the author takes some liberties the basics of the invention and history are included. Learning about the messy long roll of adhesive that had to be hand cut really puts into perspective how easy we have it today. Band-Aids have really changed the world and most definitely prevent a lot of tears.
