Forget-Me-Not Funeral Favor and Where I've Been...

So... I've been pretty much absent for 2 full months. On November 5 -my littlest 3rd birthday - my husband and I spent the night in the hospital saying goodbye to my Mom. While she was sick for a long time but this still felt sudden. Then the next 11 days we spent with my dad helping him and then saying goodbye to him as he too passed away. This was even more unexpected. The weeks, and months that followed have been a whirlwind and to be honest my site was not a priority as I'm settling affairs and clinging to my family. Thankfully I have the most amazing support system with my husband who has been so amazing - I truly love him even more today than yesterday. My kids (especially the older ones) were awesome and so helpful! My brothers are so supportive and would do anything! God has given me some of the best people during this difficult time!

Two week ago we had our memorial service to say goodbye to my parents. It was a service at my little church and the room was packed. My two brothers, sister-in-law and I all spoke. It was one of the hardest things I've done but God gave me such grace during this time. Several people also got up to speak about my parents and it was such a blessing to hear how much they touched people's lives. My parents were such amazing people.

I thought I'd share some of the pictures from the day -

It is hard to combine two very different people in one memorial. My dad was a salty fisherman but my mom was all about hospitality and she loved her flowers. I decided to add  a little favor in her honor of flowers. I ordered the little seed envelopes and forget-me-not seeds off of amazon. Then used my printer to create a little label I attached. I think it turned out perfect and it was something simple and sweet. I plan to plant a whole section of forget-me-nots in our yard this spring.

Thank you for reading this far. I'm sorry I've been so absent - I'm trying to get back to normal and have many things planned for this blog for 2019! Thanks for sticking with me!!
