The Perfect Spooky Reads From Abrams Children's Books! #GIVEAWAY

Halloween is a time for all things spooky and scary. My little ones like a a little bit of scary - they loved Hotel Transylvania! Aliens, friendly monsters, haunted houses are their favorite kind of creepy fun. I was personally excited to see another book by Ghoulia as it was one of my favorite stories (perfect for Halloween theme but not really scary if your worried about that.) The lift-the-flap Monsters Come Out Tonight! is sure to be a hit with my 3 year old.

MONSTERS COME OUT TONIGHT! By Frederick Glasser and Illustrator Edward Miller, August 13, 2019 (board book, ages 0-3)

·       All of the monsters are getting ready for the big Halloween bash in this rhyming board book. Lift interactive flaps to reveal Dracula brushing his fangs, witches combing their hair, and more silly surprises! Quirky illustrations hold plenty of details that will be sure to tickle readers’ funny bones and get them in the Halloween spirit.

GHOULIA (BOOK #1) and GHOULIA AND THE MYSTERIOUS VISITOR (BOOK #2) By Barbara Cantini, August 13, 2019 (chapter book, ages 6-8)
·       The second book in the series is a rollicking mystery with an unexpected hero. This fully-illustrated chapter book continues the adventures of Ghoulia, a lovable, not-so-scary zombie.
·       One dark and stormy night, Ghoulia’s cousin Dilbert comes to visit her at Crumbling Manor. She’s confused—she didn’t invite him, and it turns out that Dilbert’s a real grouch. He complains about everything!
·       When Ghoulia tries to track down Auntie Departed to find out why she invited Dilbert, she finds that Auntie has vanished. As the gang searches Crumbling Manor for Auntie Departed, one of their own goes missing.

ALIEN SUPERSTAR (BOOK #1) By Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver, October 1, 2019 (middle grade, ages 8-12)
·       From Emmy Award-winning actor Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver comes a new out-of-this-world middle-grade series.
·       No one is shocked by the six-eyed alien strolling around the Universal back lot. The tourists just think he’s part of the show. It doesn’t take long for Buddy to land a role on a popular TV show, playing (of course) an alien.
·       He becomes an overnight heartthrob and is suddenly faced with legions of adoring fans, rides in glamorous limos, and appearances at “all-the-shrimp-you-can-eat” red carpet parties. But can Buddy maintain his secret identity while in the spotlight?

IN THE HALL WITH THE KNIFE (A CLUE MYSTERY, BOOK #1) By Diana Peterfreund, October 8, 2019 (young adult, ages 12+)
·       A murderer could be around every corner in this thrilling YA trilogy based on the board game CLUE! When a storm strikes at Blackbrook Academy, a motley crew of students—including Beth “Peacock” Picach, Orchid McKee, Vaughn Green, Sam “Mustard” Maestor, Finn Plum, and Scarlet Mistry—are left stranded on campus with their headmaster.
·       Hours later, his body is found in the conservatory and it’s very clear his death was no accident. With this group of students who are all hiding something, nothing is as it seems, and everyone has a motive for murder.
·       Fans of the CLUE board game and cult classic film will delight in this modern reimagining of the brand, its characters, and the dark, magnificent old mansion with secrets hidden within its walls.
