The Littlest Candle: A Hanukkah Story is an adorable little tale of Flicker, the smallest candle in the drawer. This cute and whimsical story not only teaches young readers the story of Hanukkah, but also has a meaningful life lesson built in.
As all the candles fight over who should be the first candle to be lit and placed in the menorah, little Flicker doesn’t believe he even deserves a chance, after all, he is “the littlest candle”. Flicker, though small in size, has a really big heart. We learn throughout the story that small doesn’t mean unworthy.
My 5 year old and I loved this story. We quickly fell in love with this sweet, meek, little candle. With every page we turned, my daughter yelled, “No! It should be Flicker!”. It was the perfect introduction to Hanukkah giving just enough information to educate, but not so much that it became overwhelming. This would be a wonderful addition to any holiday library collection.
