I have an adorable book to share with you - and today being the 46th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon - makes today the perfect day! Space Boy and His Dog by Dian Curtis Regan is a delightful book about a boy with a wonderful imagination.
About:
Niko
may live on boring old Earth with his family, but he’s always finding a
new adventure. Using the spaceship that he built from a box in his
backyard and a little imagination, he flies off into space with his
robot, Radar, and his dog, Tag. The only one NOT invited is his sister
Posh who keeps trying to insert herself into Niko’s story. Space Boy and His Dog is the first in a planned trilogy of adventures with Niko and crew (and perhaps even pesky Posh).
Our thoughts:
This was a cute book. The story is was fun and engaging to keep my 4 year old son's interest. In fact after reading it he looked at the illustrations (by Robert Neubecker) for quite some time. I loved Nico's imagination and how we had glimpses of what reality really was. Having 3 sons and 1 on the way - I appreciated the truth in the story. This is exactly how my boys play and imagine their little worlds!
